After speaking with a number of builders, my husband and I decided to hire Griffey & Associates to construct a room addition for us. I was very pleased and proud of the new room I have. Both the management and the workers for this company were very responsible and accommodating. They were always willing to answer questions, and would take the extra time to make something just the way we wanted. I also felt confident that I could trust them in my home even when I was not there. After the initial building was completed, the finishing phase was done to perfection. Description of work included new kitchen cabinets, appliances, granite countertop/backsplash, sink, and flooring. New pendant lights and counter task lights. Glass inserts in 2 cabinet doors. Ceiling repainted. Karl is a good project leader and had frequent and timely communication with us. Charlie came to our house listened to list of what we wanted at our general price. He gave good input to help us make decisions on the overall look and function of the kitchen. Contract was detailed and we easily work out revisions. Good project timeline and they were flexible in changing the start date for us because of a family tragedy. The workers were on time and maintained a clean work area. The old cabinets were carefully removed and new ones handled carefully. We decided to add tile above the wine cooler and that was easily accommodated. Change orders were clear and complete. Into the project we decided to change the kitchen tile floor and put in a bamboo floor. We were warned that taking out the floor would be tough, and it was. New floor looks great.

Griffey & Associates finished our +/- 1200 square foot basement, including the construction of a full bath. This is a "rock star" team who we are happy to recommend. Charlie Griffey came to give us a quote early in 2007; he returned a quote to us within a week. As compared to other contractors, his price was about in the middle of the range of the 7 quotes we eventually received, was more comprehensive than others, and he estimated a work time of only 6 weeks, much shorter than others. One key to the quote was that Griffey & Associates was able to complete all of the work, including the tiling, plumbing, carpet, and painting where other contractors offered only parts of the plan and it would have been up to us to find subcontractors to complete some aspects. When we decided to move ahead with the project a couple of months later, Charlie brought in his project manager Karl with whom we had exclusive contact during the project. Karl didn't miss a detail, and finished the project within 7 weeks, just slightly longer than the estimate. The workers were polite, punctual, and cleaned up thoroughly after themselves. We invited them to ask us questions along the way; this was especially important in the framing stage as we worked to find the best way to maximize space and work around things like plumbing and mechanicals. Being able to decide with the framer how things would look when the project was complete was a huge benefit, and one we didn't know we needed when we started. Not unimportant, Griffey & Associates also worked hard to find materials that provide design continuity with the rest of our home such as doors, baseboards, and drywall ceilings. We have a beautiful living space as a result of their hard work!

Griffey & Associates remodeled our kitchen. Installed new cabinets, appliances, countertops, tile backsplash. They also replaced our front door and 2 windows. I had received 3 estimates and Charlie, by far, was the most professional and responsive of all 3. This remodel went very smoothly from start to finish. Karl worked very closely with us to make sure things were done as we wanted. We generally spoke daily and all the workers were very good and well coordinated. Clean-up was done daily. They even followed up with us weeks after they were technically done to make sure the door manufacturer followed up on an issue we had with the front door. We couldn't have been happier.

Insulated walls before installing new drywall. Installed new cabinets, sink, counter top, back splash. Designed and installed recess lighting. Painted the remaining open wall space. I'm not going to be able to say how wonderful Griffey & Assoc. were. This wonderful experience started at the estimate meeting. Charlie had wonderful ideas to make my kitchen more functional. After signing contract the work began within weeks. My site foreman was Karl. He went way above and beyond to make this remodel as stress free as possible. He was very caring, and responsive to all my concerns. If I had a question he was very easy to reach and talk too. Larry, the work supervisor, worked on my kitchen until it was perfect. I really felt like he was working as hard on my kitchen as he would his own. My kitchen took about 2 1/2 weeks to finish. I'm so happy that I worked with all these wonderful people at Griffey & Assoc. I found it very hard to say good bye and thank you when my kitchen was complete.

Griffey & Associates did a complete kitchen remodel, including moving of a major wall and redesign. In addition to kitchen, most other first floor rooms were updated/remodeled. We contacted Griffey, along with several other companies to get a general design and quotes for our project. We chose Griffey due to their prompt response and professionalism. After several weeks of planning and waiting for materials, our project got underway. Overall, we were very happy with the workmanship and attention to detail. We had very specific requests for the way we wanted the kitchen (and surroundings to look), and Griffey & Assoc. was extremely accommodating. A great remodeling experience! They started with the idea I had for a new kitchen layout and improved my design based on their remodeling experience. Charlie was willing to engage in discussions about which design choices were good investment and which would raise the cost beyond my budget. The estimate/contract was clearly detailed as to the work to be done, and the only changes made after the start were small mutually agreed on improvements to the design to improve the result. Karl always let me know the work to be done on a particular day in advance and I never had to wait more than 20 minutes for a call to be returned whan I had a questions. They kept the dust contained and cleaned up at the end of each work day. The resulting kitchen is fabulous! The creation of a full size open kitchen to replace the previous small, inefficient 1980's design has transformed my house and increased its value.

Unexpectedly, an old pipe on the inside of our home burst - pouring gallons of water into the living area. Griffey came to our aid immediately (on Saturday) and because of their quick action, a major disaster was prevented. They knew exactly how to stop the flood and salvaged most of the interior. Griffey built a 30 x 30 detached garage with block foundation, poured concrete pad, 2 x 4 construction, vinyl siding and composite shingle roof. Charlie and Karl were very easy to work with. Their price was great and they (and the workers) were very punctual. The quality of work is very good and they are flexible with changes...after supplying original designs, I asked for modifications to 8' garage doors and added a floor drain. I would highly recommend them and plan on using again in the future. Charlie called several times during and after the construction to ensure everything was going OK and that we were satisfied with the garage.

We live in an old Victorian house, we had an old plaster wall attic in bad shape. Griffey & Associates did a complete remodel, making it into a large, appealing room that serves as a TV room and playroom for kids. They tore out the plaster, raised the ceiling, re-framed parts of the dormers, installed a skylight, and replaced the windows. They put in new HVAC, wiring, and lights. They put in new trim to match what we had downstairs, and added railings, banisters, and carpet. The work is of high quality and we think the space looks great now. Charlie was knowledgeable and punctual.
